For the last 20+ years we have had the joy of bringing a Christmas party to the children of the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary and Daycare School (MAPS). Now the school has met our goal for becoming totally self-reliant (hooray!). We want to continue the tradition. We have found another school just 40 miles north of MAPS whose executive director is a woman from North Jersey.
The Mustard Seed School has approximately 600 students from Nursery to Primary7. Their school year ends around our Thanksgiving. We hope to go to Uganda in mid-November, bringing them a party on November 13th.
It will be a wonderful day of celebration… with a delicious Christmas cake, Santa and Mrs. Clause and their elves, a goody bag for each child and a wonderful Christmas dinner of meat sauce (g-nut sauce for
vegetarians) over rice, matoke and a soda. After lunch there is joyous singing and dancing.
The faculty are included as well. We will bring many pieces of jewelry that is displayed for the staff of 100 to choose several pieces from. We love doing it and they are thrilled!
We need to raise $19,775 to make this happen. Can you help us? Keep in mind that this may be the ONLY Christmas celebration and gifts they will receive. These families live on $8 a day. Help us bring Christmas Joy into their lives!
