THE MONMOUTH REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. ANNOUNCED SYLVIA’S CHILDREN AS THE 2023 BEACON OF HOPE NON-PROFIT WINNER

Tinton Falls, New Jersey – The Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) was pleased to present Sylvia’s Children with the prestigious 2023 Beacon of Hope Non-Profit Award at the annual Beacon of Excellence awards held last month. This annual award recognizes outstanding organizations that have made a significant impact in their community through their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of others.

Sylvia’s Children, based in Holmdel, New Jersey, has demonstrated exceptional efforts in providing education, healthcare, and support to children in Uganda, Africa. Sylvia’s Children was founded in 2003 by Sylvia Allen, a resident of Holmdel, with a vision to transform the lives of children in the impoverished village of Mbiriizi, Uganda.(Allen was already celebrating several decades as an internationally recognized marketing expert specializing In public relations and fundraising)

Over the past two decades, the organization has worked tirelessly to build and support the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary and Secondary School, which now educates over 1,000 children. In addition to education, Sylvia’s Children has also established a medical clinic, a clean water project, and various vocational training programs to empower the local community.

The Beacon of Hope Non-Profit Award recognizes Sylvia’s Children’s remarkable achievements in providing sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by the children and families in Mbiriizi. Through their holistic approach, the organization has not only improved access to quality education but has also enhanced healthcare services, promoted gender equality, and empowered the community to become self-sufficient.
