And, when you realize we didn’t start construction until after April 23rd this is exciting!
The two visuals we have included are:
1. A photo of the completed dorm (above). Notice the foundation is higher (hopefully we don’t have to go through this again!) and it is noticeable bigger. I think they did a wonderful job and should be commended for being excellent craftsmen.
2. A video (below) of the boys racing to the dorm with their new mattresses! In addition to new mattresses, they have new bed sheets and blankets.
None of this would have been possible without the unbelievable generous backing of so many of you. Your kindness and generosity and support of these children is emotionally overwhelming … thank you so much for helping us make a difference in their lives.
Also, on the good news front, is the latest news from the school on our college and technical school orphans … 29 of them will be graduating the end of this year which makes our total of 199 orphans who are teachers, nurses, mechanics, beauty operators, caterers, pharmacists … in short, they will have a life. Again, only possible through the generous support of donors to Sylvia’s Children.
Lastly, we are ready with 6 people for the Christmas trip in mid-November (that’s when their school year ends so we just move Christmas up a little earlier!) Every girl gets a new dress, every boy a new shirt and of course a goody bag with sunglasses, stickers, crayons, candy and Mardi gras beads. We have a very good professional photographer coming on this trip and I hope to have some phenomenal pictures to share with you when we return!
