From the time Sylvia’s Children began with the building of a school in Uganda for children that had no other way of obtaining a formal education. Since then she has overseen the construction of 26 buildings including a library, medical center and dormitories for the children. What she doe she puts her entire heart into. Sylvia’s Children is a very active member of the Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce in central NJ. For the past 20 years, Sylvia has dedicated her time and effort to get funding to educate and care for children in Uganda (some of whom are orphans). It is awe-inspiring! Sylvia has a HUGE heart and truly cares about all the children! She visits them a couple of times a year and brings volunteers with her. I am excited to be one of the volunteers traveling with Sylvia in November. I’m sure my experience will be one I’ll treasure forever!

The first time I learned about Sylvia’s Children was when I went to one of the banquets with my husband almost 10 years ago. My husband works with many charities but something about this one felt so different. You could literally feel the warmth from the moment you walked in the door. As the song goes, “Children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way” and Sylvia Allen is doing just that and helping our future.
Sylvia is giving these children the ability to grow and become the strong members of the world that they are meant to be. Every child deserves a chance to thrive, to be educated, and to feel they have a purpose. That is what this charity is all about. Starting these children on the right path, with the basic everyday needs and education. Sylvia’s Children is exactly the kind of non-profit organization that deserves recognition for all that they do. Sylvia Allen is an amazing woman who is making a change in the world, one child at a time.

I have been working with Sylvia’s Children and supporting them for a number of years. The work the organization has done has been far-reaching for these children and their families in Uganda.

I am on the board of directors for the charity and have made eight trips to the school over the last 20 years. The school has grown immensely since when we began working with them. At the start, there were approximately 400 students at the school with about 50 being orphans. Now there are just over 1000 students with over 250 orphans that live at the school. We have had a boys dormitory added, a library, a nurses office, new latrines, multiple classroom blocks, a sewing room, a new kitchen, teacher housing, a medical clinic, and farm land for crops & animals to support the school. The idea is to make them self sufficient so they eventually will not longer need to rely on outside help but can support themselves, and they have come a long way to that goal.

Sylvia Allen is every bit as wise as she is kind.
That means, this is a most responsible non-profit, doing maximum good for children who truly benefit from this support.

Seeing this organization serve, and these children grow has been an inspiration.

I’ve know Sylvia for almost 10 years now and I have been so impressed how she has continued to grown the opportunities for these children in Uganda. Not only that, since the first small school has thrived to become so much more, she has been able to employ local Ugandans in the work at the school, so additionally she is now helping with employment in the community. She husbands every dollar, continues to see product donations to help offset costs, she truly takes great care in spending the donation funds in the best possible way. She wisely offers trips to Uganda that include exposure to the school, experiences with the children so that the visitors become lifelong donors who help spread the word about these good works. I’m so proud of Sylvia and her team.
